Humanity & AI: The Value of Purpose

"The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for." – Fyodor Dostoyevsky

What will be humans' role as AI becomes ubiquitous? AI has extraordinary value. However, technology always brings tradeoffs.

Purpose is the reason for human existence. For founders, purpose steers focus, allowing them to optimize resolve and prioritize resource allocation. At some point, AI may approach sentience but cannot replace purpose. In the same way, we cannot let others define our purpose.

This week’s post will cover the value of purpose and ways AI can augment that meaning.

Cap Table Hygiene Attracts Funding

A clean cap table is crucial for startups, providing transparency on ownership structure and equity distribution. Messy cap tables can lead to stakeholder confusion, disputes, and legal issues. Issues that often occur include inaccurate or outdated information, missing shareholder details, complex ownership structures, and unclear vesting schedules. Founders should aim to own a majority stake pre-financing, limit the number of investors, ensure proper vesting, and seek legal advice for and potential exits.

Jenny Fielding, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Everywhere Ventures, shares the full cap table resource on her website.
